Bangalore: The Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore (IIM-B) seems to be caught off guard with regard to the announcement of the Human Resource Development Ministry, which has shot down its proposal to set up a campus in Singapore. While IIM-B Director Prakash G. Apte and the co-ordinator of the Singapore campus, Anandram were unavailable for comment, the Communications in-charge Amalnath said he was unaware of the decision. Sources in IIM-B said they will be approaching the Ministry to reconsider the decision. IIM-B Director in February had announced the setting up of the Singapore campus on par with Bangalore offering part-time MBA for middle level executives; executive MBA for senior level executives; short duration executive education programme for managers; and customised executive education programme for companies. The IIMB had set up the Singapore campus at India International School Campus, 1, Mei Chin, Singapore. The campus included lecture halls, seminar and conference rooms, library and computer centre with broadband access facilities. IIM had plans of opening a campus overseas, in the form of a research and management education centre in Singapore. The Singapore campus was to be IIM-B's only campus in South East Asia. This would have been the third business school of the Wall Street Journal's top 100 business schools to have a campus in Singapore, the other two being INSEAD and the Graduate School of Business, University of Chicago.
