Businessman, software engineer robbed of cash

BANGALORE: Armed men attacked a software engineer and a businessman and robbed them of Rs. 23,000 in cash, two mobile phones and a scooter in separate incidents on Tuesday night. The police said that around 9.30 p.m., four men waylaid Sreenivasa, who was riding a scooter on Nagavara Ring Road, and attacked him with iron rods. They robbed him of Rs. 16,000 in cash and a mobile phone. The robbers drove way on his scooter.

On a compliant by Sreenivasa, a dealer in cigarettes and a resident of Moodalapalya, the Kadugondanahalli police have registered a case.

In the other incident, two men stabbed a software engineer and robbed him of Rs. 7,300 and a mobile phone in Bayappanahalli police station limits.

The police said that around 9.30 p.m. Kannan was driving towards his Pai Layout house in his car. On reaching NGEF Circle on Old Madras Road, he got a call on his mobile phone.

When Mr. Kannan stopped the car and was speaking on the phone, two men asked him the way to K.R. Puram bridge.

As Mr. Kannan was guiding them, they stabbed him in the abdomen with a knife and robbed him of cash and the phone.

The Bayappanahalli police have registered a case.

Attempt to burgle ATM

Thieves made an attempt to steal cash from the State Bank of Mysore's ATM centre situated in the bank's premises on Sampige Road in Malleswaram police station limits in the early hours of Wednesday.

The police said the thieves had dismantled the ATM machine.

Around 12.30 a.m., an employee of a neighbouring shop, who saw the thieves at the ATM, alerted bank's security guard M.B. Uthappa.

The police rushed to the spot and took into custody a man who was moving suspiciously near the bank.

On a complaint by bank's Chief Manager Ramesh, the Malleswaram police have registered a case.
