`Gita' can help you tide over exam blues

It has answers to all dilemmas: Prabhanjanacharya

BANGALORE: It's that time of the year when second year pre-university students are under pressure from all sides.

They are under constant watch while they prepare for final year examinations and later for entrance tests for professional courses, says Geetha Ramanujam, Principal of National College Pre-University College, Jayanagar.

It is really a stressful time for everyone — students, parents and teachers. Parents want to get the best returns on the money invested on their children. Is there any way out of this never-ending yearning to emerge winners in this competitive world? Yes, says Dr. Ramanujam, who has set up the Centre for Philosophical Pursuit and has been trying to make the `Bhagavad Gita' a part of the students' life for nearly two decades.

Interaction

On Wednesday, she organised an interaction of pre-university students and their parents with scholar Prabhanjanacharya at H.N. Kalakshetra. The Acharya gave examples to emphasise that the Gita indeed has answers to all dilemmas. In reply to students' queries, Dr. Ramanujam said: "the way to start is to think that we are all Arjunas here. And we will find our own Krishnas — in our parents, our teachers.

The important thing is to remember that students, parents and teachers have their own dharmas to follow."

For parents too, there is a message in the Gita, he said. "The dharma as a parent is to ensure that there is the right environment and support for the child to build the self-confidence needed for success. And to be able to start all over again in the case of failure."

The Centre for Philosophical Pursuit, of which Dr. Ramanujam is founder and president, has always emphasised that Vedanta is a powerful tool that can equip the young better to face the future.
