Disturbing

The near-war between Pakistani forces and Baloch rebels, and the statement by tribal chief Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti that the ISI distributed weapons in Afghanistan, Iran, and Jammu & Kashmir, prove Pakistan is the breeding ground for, and exporter of, terrorism. Such revelations, coming at a time when both the countries are considering liberalised visa regimes and opening more bus and rail routes, are disturbing.

K. Balaji,
Coimbatore

Terrorism in India is growing at an alarming rate because of the Government's misplaced priorities and skewed policies. The abolition of TADA and POTA, maintaining a porous border with Bangladesh, talk of peace with a neighbour carrying a concealed dagger, and according undue importance to the Hurriyat are all moves that have hurt India.

Bhat Hamsarajan,
Mumbai
