Pondicherry
Special Correspondent
Pondicherry: Volunteers of the All-India Coordination Committee of Trade Unions (AICCTU) took out a rally in Pondicherry on Thursday urging the administration to concede the demands of workers. Later they staged a demonstration near Rajnivas. The rally led by Motilal, general secretary of the AICCTU, and was addressed by vice-president of the national council S. Balasubramanian. Motilal demanded a monthly relief of Rs 2,500 for workers of industries that had shut down. The workers felt that the five years of Congress rule had seen several industries closing shop, throwing workers out of jobs. The demonstrators called for the setting up of a separate court to handle industrial disputes.
