Catch me if you can, he says

K.T. Sangameswaran

CHENNAI: One government official proved smarter than the sleuths on his trail.

Personnel of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption wanted to trap a Fire Service officer in Chennai who allegedly demanded a bribe from his colleagues.

The usual plan drawn by vigilance officials to catch him on the act was in place.

Was the official a step ahead of his pursuers?

He asked the bribe-givers to place the currency (which were chemical notes) on his table. This was done. But, he left the office without touching it. The trappers lay in wait for his return.

He did come back, well after midnight. But, again left without touching the tempting currency notes.
