Title for Adhiban

KOLKATA: B. Adhiban of Tamil Nadu and Padmini Rout of Orissa won the boys' and girls' titles respectively in the National under-13 chess championship on Thursday.

Adhiban, who became a champion with a round to spare by gaining an invincible lead with 9.5 points on Wednesday, played out a regulation draw in the final round against State-mate N. Surendran.

The competition was for the second spot, which had four players tied on 8.5 points. S. Nitintallied the best progressive score to pick up the silver.
