New BJP chief likely by Jan. 20: Kalraj Misra

Special Correspondent

`Choice of the president is no big problem'; Cabinet reshuffle may also be delayed

JAIPUR: A decision on the next president of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Rajasthan will be taken after consultations with the national president of the party Rajnath Singh. However, the choice of the next State president, hanging fire for sometime, is not likely before January 20, when the party's national council is scheduled to meet. The proposed changes in the State Cabinet led by Vasundhara Raje, are also likely only thereafter, it is being hinted.

BJP general secretary in charge for Rajasthan Kalraj Misra talking to mediapersons here on Thursday said the choice of the president and the mode of his selection would be decided after the State leaders' meeting with the new national president of the party. As such the minimum pre-requisite for holding the election of the president -- that is elections in more than 50 per cent of the total districts— has already been met, he noted. "Prior to the Cabinet reshuffle the Chief Minister would meet the party president. Basically any change in the Cabinet is her prerogative," Mr.Misra said.

"The choice of the president is no big problem. Once the name is decided every one would agree to it," Mr.Misra said denying any kind of serious differences within the State unit over the new leader

Responding to a query, Mr.Misra said there were no differences between the Chief Minister and her Cabinet colleagues. "There is no dispute over the style of functioning of the Chief Minister," Mr.Misra asserted. He said the party was happy about the performance of the Government in the State in the first two years of its inception. "Going by the performance of the first two years, one can be confident that this Government would be able to fulfill all its remaining promises in the next three years," he said
