Lucknow: The Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel were rushed to the King George Medical University (KGMU) here after the medical students went on the rampage following the death of a fellow student in an accident on Wednesday. All the roads leading to the Uuniversity had been blocked by the students, who are holding the authorities responsible for the death and have demanded Rs 50 lakhs as compensation to the family members of the deceased. Meanwhile, family members of the deceased Deepak Agarwal, who was a second year MBBS student, are likely to meet Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav. The agitated students even torched the office at the administrative block and ransacked the dental block of KGMU. Several important files and documents were destroyed. Several private vehicles were also damaged by the students. The protest started on Wednesday night after the Deepak, a native of neighbouring Sitapur, died after sustaining serious head injuries when he fell from a height during the convocation function of the KGMU centenary celebrations.
