"Women can work in bars''

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Thursday said there should be no restriction on women being employed in establishments serving liquor.

A division bench comprising Mr Justice Mukul Mudgal and Mr Justice H R Malhotra said women could be employed in bars and other outlets, including hotels.

Inter-religious dialogue

NEW DELHI: An inter-faith and inter-religious dialogue on "Peace, Harmony and Emotional Integration" was organised by Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya at its Om Shanti Retreat Centre in neighbouring Gurgaon on Thursday.

Chairing the dialogue, Rajyogini Dadi Rukmani said conflicts on the basis of caste, creed, community, language, race and religion were caused by lack of true knowledge about the inner self. "To restore peace, love, unity and harmony in self and society people should practise Rajyoga meditation."

New appointment

NEW DELHI: Sunil Krishna, a 1973 batch Indian Police Officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, has taken over as Additional Director-General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police.

A gold medallist from Banaras Hindu University, Mr. Krishna joined the IPS in 1973.

Cleanliness drive

NEW DELHI: Delhi Mayor Satbir Singh launched a special three-week cleanliness drive at Bhogal here on Thursday.

Mr. Singh appealed to the citizens to cooperate with the municipal employees in making the drive a success. He said only municipal employees cannot clean Delhi; cooperation of residents' welfare associations, market associations, shopkeepers, voluntary organisations and citizens was imperative.

Maharashtra tableau

NEW DELHI: Showcasing its drive to keep its villages clean, the Maharashtra Government's tableau for the Republic Day Parade on Rajpath here this year will focus on "Keeping the village clean, will keep the doctor at bay''.

Based on Sant Gadage Baba's cleanliness drive, the rural sanitation drive has been implemented since 2000. The tableau has been designed by the J.J School of Arts in Mumbai.

Multilingual bookstore

NEW DELHI: Bringing the best collection of books in regional languages by prominent Indian authors, Indian Book Shelf, a unit of Star Publications, launched a multilingual bookstore here on Asaf Ali Road on Thursday.

Apart from putting the best in India on a single shelf, the store also brings to readers a festival of these books till January 21. Inaugurated by noted Urdu poet Javed Akhtar, the store aims to promote books of famous authors from all over the country in English, Urdu, Panjabi. Gujarati, Bengali, Tamil and Marathi under one roof
