Rs. 5 crore for nanoscience centre

CHENNAI
: The State Government has sanctioned Rs. 5 crore for setting up a Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at the University of Madras. It will be set up to commemorate the 150th year celebrations of the university, a press release here said.
The centre will offer academic and research programmes in nanosciences, nanotechnology and biotechnology, including a two-year postgraduate programme and a five-year integrated degree course.
Training programmes, seminars and conferences will also be held for teachers, students, industries and research organisations.
Research
Research will be undertaken in areas such as nanotechnology fibres, molecular configurations and biocatalysts, the release added.
Consultancy will also be done for industries and academic and research organisations, apart from taking up collaborative research projects with other varsity departments.
