Karur bridge built on 1996 order: Arcot Veerasamy

CHENNAI: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam treasurer Arcot N. Veerasamy on Wednesday said that the 1996 order of the AIADMK Government formed the basis for all action taken to build the Karur Amaravathy Bridge.

Refuting allegations that the build, operate and transfer (BOT) concept was conceived by the DMK Government, he said that the 1995 high level meeting convened by the then Industries Minister M. Chinnasamy had suggested the BOT concept.

In any case, BOT was an accepted form of construction, he said adding it was laughable that this was being made into a big issue.
