`Gita Fest' begins on January 16

ISKCON, Bangalore, will be organising `Gita Fest,' an inter-school competition based on the `Bhagavad Gita' from January 16.

It will offer schoolchildren from LKG to Standard X an opportunity to participate in events and contests based on the `Gita' and a chance to appreciate Vedic scriptures.

Competitions will be held in singing, painting and writing. Sloka chanting contest, `Gita' elocution and `Gita' memorising contest will also he held.

There will also be a group singing contest, where students can sing slokas from the `Gita' in either Carnatic or Hindustani style and an essay writing contest on verses from the `Gita.' The fest will conclude on January 19.

All school students in Bangalore can participate. There is no entry fee.

The last date for submission of entries is January 13.
