BANGALORE: Two armed youths waylaid a man and robbed him of cash and a mobile phone in Hennur police station limits on Wednesday. The robbers drove away on his motorcycle, the police said. Around 10.30 p.m., Saravana, a mason, was returning home in Chikkabanasawadi after dropping a friend, Shankar, at his house in Agara. The two youths waylaid Saravana at Horamavu, robbed him of Rs. 50 in cash and the mobile phone and escaped on his motorcycle, the police said. The Hennur police have registered a case.
Drowned
A 15-year-old boy was drowned in an open well in ITI Layout in Hennur police station limits on Wednesday. The police gave the name of the dead as Jesudas, a garage employee. The Hennur police have registered a case.
Two killed in accidents
Two persons were killed in as many road accidents in the city on Wednesday. Lakshminarayana (73), a resident of Indiranagar, was killed when a goods vehicle hit his scooter at Nagavara junction on the Outer Ring Road around 5 p.m. The Fraser Town traffic police have arrested the driver of the goods vehicle. A case has been registered. In the other incident, Yeluguri (30), a native of Ilkal in Bijapur district, died after being run over by a lorry in Adugodi traffic police station limits around 11.30 a.m. The police said Yeluguri was the cleaner of the lorry that ran over him. He had come here in a granite-laden lorry from Ilkal. When the driver had stopped the lorry on Sarjapur Road and had gone to a nearby hotel to have tea, Yeluguri had slept under the vehicle. After returning from the hotel, the driver, who was unaware that the cleaner was sleeping under the lorry, started the vehicle and Yeluguri was run over, the police said. The Adugodi traffic police have registered a case.
Arrested
The Subramanyapura police have arrested seven persons on the charge of murdering Rajendra (22), who was stabbed and later bludgeoned to death at Uttarahalli on January 4. The names of the arrested were given as Wilson (23) of Gowdanapalya, Kumar (26) of Uttarahalli, Shyam alias Shamson (22) of Kothnur, Krishna (26) of Arehalli, Subbu alias Subash (25) of 7th Phase, J.P. Nagar, Malcolm (25) of Madivala and Sanjeev Kumar (26) of Uttarahalli.
