Electoral draft roll release date postponed

DINDIGUL: Date for release of draft electoral roll for 2006 has been postponed in order to prepare error free electoral rolls. The draft roll would be released on January 23, said collector Rajesh Lakhoni. (Earlier it was planned to release the roll on January 12)

In a release here on Friday, he said checklist-II has been prepared and meticulous checking was under progress.

Persons aged 18 years as on January 1, 2006 may submit applications for inclusion of their names in the voter list between January 23 and February 6. The District Election Office has organised a special camp for this purpose on February 4 and scrutiny of applications would take place on February 16. Final electoral rolls would be released on February 27.

The draft electoral rolls would be displayed in all offices of assistant returning officers, all election booths, post offices, panchayat, special panchayat and municipal offices on January 23. Voters could verify their names and other details. New voters may receive application forms for inclusion of their names in the voter list one of these offices or booths in the district, collector said.
