SEOUL: South Korean prosecutors investigating disgraced stem cell scientist Hwang Woo-suk said on Friday they were barring more of his collaborators from leaving the country. Including Mr. Hwang, the total number of people who have been ordered not to leave the country stands at 28, said Hong Man-pyo, the prosecutor in charge of the criminal investigation. Prosecutors also raided eight more offices of Mr. Hwang's former collaborators, Mr. Hong said on Friday, a day after they searched Mr. Hwang's residence in southern Seoul to seize evidence. Mr. Hwang publicly apologised on Thursday for faking data in papers published in 2004 and 2005 that purported to show his team created stem cells from the world's first cloned human embryos, but claimed he was deceived by fellow researchers. It was not yet clear if Mr. Hwang would also face fraud charges. AP
