Lt Governor, Rangasamy greet people

Pondicherry: Lt Governor of Pondicherry M M Lakhera in his message on the occasion of Pongal, greeted the people that their hopes and aspirations were fulfilled during the festive season.

He said that he was confident that the festival would usher in happiness, good fortune and prosperity in the lives of the people.

Chief Minister N Rangasamy in his message said that Pongal was among the important cultural occasions for the Tamils. Referring to the schemes implemented for the benefit of farmers and farm labourers, Mr Rangasamy said that creation of a separate welfare board for agricultural labourers and raising the price of sugarcane were important highlights of the pro-farmer policy of the government.

He said that full compensation to the farmers who had lost their crop in the natural calamity, opening of Uzhavar Udhaviyagams and expansion of the Uzhavar Sandhais (Farm produce retail sales outlets) were among the other priorities of his government.

He wished the the people happiness and prosperity.
