KOLLAM : The Kollam Residents Apex Council has called upon the Kollam City Corporation authorities to explain to the people the details of the proposed Rs.122-crore loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
People anxious
In a statement here on Friday, general secretary of the council C. Amalolbhavan said that the people were keen to know what were the development projects to be funded by the loan and whether the loan would result in any additional liabilities for the residents.
20 divisions
Mr. Amalolbhavan said that the call was made at a meeting of the council held on Wednesday. The council pointed out that when the loan would be utilised for development activities in the erstwhile Kollam municipal area comprising 20 divisions, it would result in the erstwhile panchayat areas of the city (which merged with the Kollam municipal area to form the Kollam Corporation) remaining backward. Hence a separate loan should be availed of for the development of these areas too.
Vigil Groups
The council called upon Kollam SP, Santosh Varma to convene meetings of residents' associations and constitute vigil groups for complementing the police in countering the spurt in house breaks and thefts in the city.
