Special kids put their talents to test

KOCHI: Ignoring their disabilities, 300 students from 25 schools in four districts put their artistic talents on show at `Bhavana 2006,' a festival for special children, on Saturday.

Reena Memorial Samrakshana Special School won the overall championship.

Film actors Kavya Madhavan and Jayasurya participated in the inaugural function.

Competitions were held in mimicry, mono act, drawing, painting, solo song, group song, fancy dress, group dance and solo dance for physically and mentally challenged children in three categories of senior, junior and sub-junior.

Playback singer G. Venugopal participated in the valedictory function.

He also sang for the children on the occasion.

This was the third edition of `Bhavana,' which is held annually. The event was organised by Rotary Cochin International in association with Ashadeepam Rehabilitation Centre.
