KOCHI: N.R. Narayanamurthy, Chief Mentor of Infosys Technologies, called upon students to give priority to society's interests to make lives simpler and more comfortable. He was delivering the Leadership in Education lecture organised by the Rajagiri School of Management, Kakkanad, on Sunday. He said educational institutions should inculcate values in the students to clear the gloom that surrounds us. Students' priority should be to excel in their academics. He also said that corporates should create new jobs. He said Infosys succeeded because its employees thought of the company first. He said that companies need world-class manpower and they source them from world-class educational institutions. World-class manpower should be professional, meritorious, dignified, open and courteous, Mr. Narayanamurthy said. He said a few Indians abroad had defamed India by indulging in dishonest acts. The Infosys chief said problems should be attended to even if they did not affect us directly. Problems of poverty and injustice should be solved by means that are acceptable to all. Mr. Narayanamurthy called upon the students to fight corruption and perform honest deeds so that India could emerge as a well-respected nation.
