Letters to the Editor
This refers to the hard hitting editorial "A helping hand for `Q'" (Jan. 14) and the most telling cartoon `Qleanchit.' It was reminiscent of the days when The Hindu created history by uncovering the Rs.64 crore payoff scandal, and wrote three powerful editorials in a month condemning N.T. Rama Rao's undemocratic dismissal as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
G. Suryanarayana,
The condemnation of the Additional Solicitor General's opinion on the frozen bank accounts of Ottavio Quattrocchi could not have been stronger. The Prime Minister should intervene and ask the CBI to continue the investigations. H.R. Bhardwaj must explain to the nation why he sent B. Datta to the U.K. and whether he consulted the CBI and the Union Home Ministry before doing so. Obviously, he did what he did at the behest of someone very, very powerful.
Col. (retd.) C.V. Venugopalan,
Justice in the Bofors case has been made to wait in an unending long `Q' for almost two decades. With the latest development, injustice has been allowed to jump the queue trampling upon justice in wait.
Tharcius S. Fernando,
