Staff Correspondent
HUBLI: The revised autorickshaw fares in the district, which were to come into effect from Sunday, have been put on hold owing to the objection raised by the Hubli Autorickshaw Drivers and Owners Association alleging non-availability of the fare charts. In a press release issued here, David Goni, president of the association, Devanand Jagapur, Imtiaz Jamadar and other office-bearers held the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) responsible for the delay. They alleged that the RTO has not acted according to the decision taken at a meeting of the Regional Transport Authority chaired by Deputy Commissioner M.S. Srikar. It was decided at the meeting that the RTO will conduct two-day training camps in Hubli and Dharwad for autorickshaw drivers on the revised fares. But till date, no such camp has been held, they said. The RTO has also not arranged for the distribution of the fare charts, they said. In the twin-cities that have over 8,000 autorickshaws, only a few hundred fare charts have been given, they said.
