Isolated rain likely in south T.N.

CHENNAI: Yesterday's Deep depression over southeast Arabain Sea weakened into a depression in the evening of 14th January, moved in a west north westerly direction and further weakened into well marked low pressure area. Rainfall occurred at a few places over Lakshadweep.

Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Dry weather prevailed over Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

The chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimetres are: Senkottai (Thirunelveli dt 5, Nanguneri (Tirunelveli dt) 4, Pamban, Ambasamudrum (Tirunelveli dt), Mylaudy (Kanyakumari dt) and Nagarcoil 3 each, Palayamkottai, Radhapuram and Tenkasi (Both Tirunelveli dt), Thucklay (Kanyakumari dt) 2 each and Nagapattinam, Tondi, Sankarankoil (Tirunelveli dt), Thovalai (Kanyakumari dt), Devakottai and Manamadurai (Both Sivaganga dt) and Minicoy 1 each.

FORECAST (valid until Tuesday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over Kerala and Lakshadweep. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely over South Tamil Nadu and Coastal Karnataka and mainly dry weather will prevail over North Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Andhra Pradesh and North and South Interior Karnataka.

Farmers Weather Bulletin for Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry (valid until Tuesday morning): Isolated light to moderate rain is likely over south Tamil Nadu and mainly sunny weather will prevail over north Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
