SRIKAKULAM: Andhra Pradesh Minister for Revenue and Rehabilitation Dharmana Prasada Rao on Sunday asserted that the State Government was well within its rights to take up the stage II of Phase II of the Vamsadhara Project as it would use only its share of 35 tmcft for which there was an agreement between it and Orissa. Speaking to The Hindu here, the Minister referred to the reported objections raised by Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and said the Government of Orissa raised objections to "use even our share in the past because the original proposal envisaged construction of a barrage near Neredi which could have resulted in submersion of some villages located in Orissa." The Minister also allayed fears that the project would get stuck due to the objections raised by Orissa.
