Bhagavatha Parishad begins

Malliyoor Sankaran Namboodiri takes part

KOTTAYAM: The 11-day Bhagavatha Parishad at Malliyoor Sri Mahaganapathy Temple was formally inaugurated on Sunday evening. Prior to the inaugural ceremony, the main idol brought from Sri Sidhi Vinayaka Temple in Kasaragod, in addition to the 108 idols brought from various other temples were taken in a procession from Kuruppanthara junction to the Yajna Vedi.

This is for the first time in five years that Bhagavatha Acharya Malliyoor Sankaran Namboodiri is participating in a Bhagavatha yajnom. His son Parameswaran Namboodiri and noted yajna acharyas from all over India are participating in the Parishad, which coincides with the Sathabhishekom celebrations of Malliyoor Sankaran Nambodiri. His birthday falls on January 27. A public reception has been scheduled as part of the conclusion of the Yajnom to felicitate the acharya.

Special arrangements have been made for by the Railways and KSRTC for the devotees to participate in the yajna. According to organisers, arrangements have made for accommodation for 2,000 persons during the yajna period.
