Displaced persons' plea to put off hearing

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD : The Project Displaced Persons' Association has demanded that details relating to the affected families and houses be declared before holding the public hearing in connection with the environmental clearance for the Vamsadhara-II project.

In a statement here on Sunday, B. Tulasidas, president of the association, sought the postponement of the hearing, to be conducted at Kotturu in Srikakulam district on Monday, saying that should not be held without declaring the rehabilitation and resettlement plan of the displaced people. He said reports released by officials did not contain details on the number of displaced families and the extent of land that would be affected.
