Karavali Utsav concludes

Consumer exhibition turned out to be a big draw



VISITORS MANY: People throng the venue of `Karavali utsav' in Mangalore on Sunday.

MANGALORE: The 45-day `Karavali Utsav' drew to a close here on Sunday.

A beach `utsav' that included display of fireworks and a kite and food festival were held on Saturday and Sunday.

The consumer exhibition was the main attraction at the `utsav.'

Nearly 5 lakh people are estimated to have taken part in the festivities.

22 groups

As many as 22 cultural groups and individual artistes performed at three locations — main stage at Mangalore, thousand-pillar Jain Basadi at Moodbidri and the Panambur beach.

Classical vocalist Puttur Narasimha Nayak and musician Sudesh Bhonsle performed on the last day. Hoteliering schools in the city organised a two-day food festival in connection with the valedictory.

Children and youth took part in the kite festival organised by Mangalore Kite Flyers Group. The fireworks display was organised by the Coast Guard on Sunday.
