`7K Run' likely to be a starry affair

Actors, top sportspersons expected to participate in event on Republic Day


  • CD containing Chief Minister's address and logo for event released
  • Show to promote the concept of progress, fraternity and health
  • About 10,000 people from different walks of life expected to participate
  • 6,000 wall posters getting ready to adorn thoroughfares en route the run

    ELURU: Tadepalligudem, a tiny municipal town in West Godavari district and hub of business and transport industry, is getting ready to host the `7K Run' on January 26, Republic Day.

    It is likely to be a star-studded show in view of the participation of a galaxy film and sports stars including Pullela Gopichand (badminton), Mukesh Kumar (hockey), Md. Azharuddin (cricket), Rambha, Nagababu and M.S. Narayana (film actors).

    Local Congress MLA Kottu Satyanarayana on Sunday released a CD containing Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy's address on the event and the logo of the 7K Run.

    Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Satyanarayana said the show was aimed at promoting the triple concepts — progress, fraternity and health. A pylon would be unveiled in town on the day in commemoration of the show, he said adding that the town would witness similar shows on every Republic Day hereafter.

    About 10,000 people from different walks of life, especially students and youth, were expected to take part in the run.
