ERODE: The Revenue Divisional Officers, tahsildars and Block Development Officers should not make any delay in giving reply to the Chief Minister's Cell applications and grievances day petitions, the District Collector, D. Karthikeyan, said at the grievances day meeting here on Monday. Only 15 to 20 applications were received on Monday as against the usual 300-odd collected during these days. The fall in applications is attributed to the Kanum Pongal festival. The Collector felt sorry that 10 petitions were pending with the Revenue Divisional Officer's Office at Gobichettipalayam, and some at the Superintendent of Police' office. He wanted all the officials to provide `quality reply' to the petitioners. The Collector said he was receiving petitions complaining of the delay in sanctioning education loan.
Education loans
He wanted banks to grant the loan to deserving students belonging to poor and middle class families. He wanted the Distress Relief Scheme Tahsildars to sanction the old age pensions without any delay. Earlier, the Collector distributed 23 sewing machines to the physically challenged persons and wanted them to get the opportunities given by the Export Garment Manufacturers, who were badly in need of tailors. The Collector gave 22 walkers other equipment to children with cerebral palsy
