People are on our side: Jayalalithaa

Special Correspondent

"The party has the ability to defeat conspiracies against it"

CHENNAI: Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa on Monday appealed to party workers to strive for the success of the organisation in the coming Assembly elections by exposing those who were trying to belittle the AIADMK Government's achievements in the last five years.

In a statement on the eve of the birth anniversary of party founder M.G. Ramachandran, she said unity, cooperation and effort on the part of the cadre were essential to exposing those who were claiming that no development had taken place in Tamil Nadu in the last five years.

"The people are on our side; therefore victory will be ours," she said. Tamil Nadu led the rest of the country in attracting foreign investment because of the Government's policies.

The party had the duty to protect the people, as M.G. Ramachandran had founded it for that purpose. The enemies of the party were not intent on serving the people, but only on obtaining positions of power for their children, she said.

The party had the ability to defeat all the conspiracies against it, she added.
