Hyderabadi tehzeeb for AICC plenary

Special Correspondent

TIME TO DECK UP: Flowers and plants adorn the main venue of AICC plenary at Gachibowli in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad: A corporate outlook with a touch of tradition and Hyderabadi `tehzeeb' is how the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee is planning to receive thousands of delegates converging here for the three-day AICC plenary this week-end.

Veterans of the Mahila Congress will move over and yield place to the youth at the reception points. Girls in traditional Congress sarees (plain khadi with tri-colour borders) will greet delegates on arrival with an `angavastram.'

All in the web

Each registered delegate will be given a computer printout with details of his/her accommodation, travel plan, the name of the driver and the registration number of the car which will be at their disposal for next three days.

G. Narayan Reddy, APCC's protocol man, on Monday said the guests would be escorted to the exit points of the airport and entrusted to the care of members of the transport committee to be ushered into waiting cars.

The guests will be accompanied by local youths well versed in Hindi, English and other languages. All these hands are being drafted through professional event managers.

Three PCs installed at the airport and linked to Gandhi Bhavan, APCC headquarters, and hotels would be online from January 18 itself to help the reception committee to streamline arrivals and departures. An air ticketing office would also come up at Gachibowli stadium, re-christened Rajivnagar.

The APCC will use 60 walkie-talkies for leaders of its committees overseeing the arrangements. A temporary wireless station is being established at the venue for effective operation of the handsets.

General secretary of the APCC Yadav Reddy said: "All this will lend a corporate look to the plenary. After all, we have to change with times."
