TOUCH OF GLAMOUR: Venkatesh and Charmme in `Lakshmee.'
Lakshmee (Telugu) Cast: Venkatesh, Nayanatara, Charmme, Sayaji Shinde, Pradeep Rawat Director: V.V. Vinayak After making a mass-oriented Aadhi, his first film, he came out with a top grosser Tagore with Chiru in the lead. Having caught the pulse of the masses, Vinayak teams up with Venkatesh for Lakshmee and tries to blend it with his mass image. Screenplay is the forte of Vinayak and he can do wonders with it. At the same time Vinayak knows how to elevate the hero's image and grabs the applause of frontbenchers. Lakshmee Narayana (Venkatesh) is the eldest son in a family. He has three brothers and two sisters. They own a factory worth several crores of rupees. Janardhan (Sayaji Shinde), a former factory employee of Lakshmee Industries incites differences among family members in order to take revenge against Lakshmee. Lakshmee goes to Kolkata to bring back his aunt who had left the house after marrying against the wishes of Lakshmee's father. There, he has a tiff with some goons. In the melee, his aunt dies and her daughter Nandini (Nayanatara) goes into coma. The rest of the story deals with how Lakshmee is united with his family members. How he fulfils his promise given to his father? How he teaches a lesson to villains and whether he wins Nandini's heart?
Top act
Venkatesh performs extremely well in all the frames. He emotes well in sentimental scenes shot in the factory backdrop and also as a good lover. Nayanatara as heroine does justice to her role. Charmme's role is limited to songs. Sayaji Shinde as main villain and Pradeep Rawat as the Kolkata don fare well. Ramana Gogula has provided good tunes to the songs. Chota K. Naidu's cinematography is an asset to the film. Picturisation of Venumadhav and Sakuntala's fight in the form of cartoons and the car-robot animation in "Andhra Mirchi" song looks different.
The film has several elements that can attract all classes of audiences.
