Gandhi Hospital staff suspended

HYDERABAD: Taking a serious note of the incident in which a woman was forced to deliver in the open at Gandhi Hospital on January 11, the Government suspended nine persons including two lady doctors. The action was taken on a report submitted by the Enquiry Committee on Monday that suggested stringent action against the erring staff.

A statement said that the committee interacted with Durga, the affected mother, and her mother-in-law, auto driver and the staff of private hospital in Turkapalli village in Nalgonda district where the patient was first taken.

The committee found certain staff members of the Gandhi Hospital guilty of ill-treating the patient and her mother-in-law.

Meanwhile, Minister for Health K. Rosaiah, directed Superintendents and RMOs of hospitals, to take steps to avoid recurrence of such incidents.
