Woman killed in mishap

NEW DELHI: In what appears to be a case of drunken driving, a 22-year-old woman was killed and two of her friends were injured when a Cielo car they were travelling in rammed into a tree at Chanakyapuri in New Delhi on Sunday midnight. The driver, who sustained a fracture in the leg, was allegedly drunk when the accident occurred.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 12-15 a.m. when Bobby, a taxi driver, his girlfriend, Riya, and friend, Raju, were returning after a ride in the Cielo. Bobby, who was allegedly drunk, lost control over the wheel and the vehicle rammed into a tree on Nyaya Marg.

The injured were taken to hospital where Riya was declared dead on arrival. Raju had superficial injuries, while Bobby's leg was fractured. During questioning, Raju disclosed that Riya was Bobby's girlfriend. It came to light that Riya was missing from her house for the past six months. The police have registered a case and are investigating.
