Strike

A section of employees of Andhra Bank and Bank of Baroda went on strike on Monday following a call given by the All India Bank Employees' Association in protest against the public issue. A massive demonstration was held in front of banks here against the move to dilute the Government's share in these banks, according to a release from the Coimbatore District Bank Employees' Association.

Vocal concerts

Sri Thyagaraja Brahma Gananjali will be held at Sri Venugopalswami Temple from January 18 to 23, according to a release. Vocal concerts by T.M. Krishna, Seetharajan, Neyveli R. Santhanagopalan, and N. Vijayasiva will be organised apart from "Unchavritti Bhajan", goshti ganam and violin recital by Lalgudi GJR Krishnan and Smt. Vijayalakshmi.

Anjaneya Utsavam will be held on January 23.

Symposium

Lisieux Matriculation Higher Secondary School will organise a symposium on Feburary 11 to update students of the advances in physical science, mathematics, biological science and information and communication technology.

Students of Class XI who want to present papers at the symposium should submit the registration form with the title and an abstract of the paper. It should not exceed 500 words and should be typed in English or Tamil (four copies), with a passport size colour photograph. It should be sent to the Principal, Lisieux Matriculation Higher Secondary School, before January 20.

Grievances day

The Superintending Engineer of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, Coimbatore North, will conduct a grievances day meeting at the office of the Executive Engineer, Mettupalayam, on January 18 at 11 a.m.

A similar meeting will be conducted by the Superintending Engineer of the TNEB, Coimbatore South, at the office of the executive engineer, Tirupur, on January 18 at 11 a.m.

Meeting

A meeting of the depositors of Madras Motor Finance and Guarantee Group Company will be held on January 17 at the Corporation Kalyana Mandapam, behind Thandumariamman Temple, at 10 a.m., according to a release from the Central Depositors' Association of Incorporated Non-Banking Finance Companies.

Programme

The District Industries' Centre will conduct a motivation meeting for small-scale entrepreneurs in Pongalur on January 18 at 3 p.m.

A similar meeting will be held on January 25 at Thondamuthur.

Campus interview

Transworks Limited, a member of the Aditya Group, will conduct a campus interview in Sankara College of Science and Commerce on January 18, a press release issued here said.
