Cinema is all about success at the box office. And the race has started with a slew of releases this Pongal.
Five films were set to be released, but one Vijaykanth's Perarasu did not hit the theatres. Vijay's Aathi came a day late.
Ajith's Paramasivan, Simbhu's Saravana and Aathi are the main draw, with Paasakkiligal a fourth contender.
During the Pongal holidays almost all of them ran to full houses, but it's early days; it will be a few more days before declaring the winners.
A good way to judge the success of a film, a veteran theatre owner says, is to count the number of people who couldn't get tickets for the show.
