Letters to the Editor
As a regular reader, I am elated that The Hindu now has a Readers' Editor. It will certainly go a long way in strengthening the relationship between the readers and the newspaper. Hopefully, K. Narayanan will prove wrong the few apprehensions raised in these columns over his appointment to the post.
Barun Kumar Mahapatro,
I am glad to note that, far from resting on its laurels, The Hindu continues to strive to improving its content and form. At a time when the very survival of the print media is in peril, it is commendable that the newspaper has taken up the formidable task of rejuvenating the dying industry through such innovative measures as the induction of a Readers' Editor.
Wg. Cdr. (retd.) A.N.B. Pillai,
There is no doubting Mr. Narayanan's experience or expertise but it is a fact that he is an insider, having spent a major part of his life with The Hindu. An ombudsman from the outside would have been better. Nevertheless, kudos to The Hindu .
Pallav Pareek,
I still cannot figure out the difference the new post will make either in terms of value addition or objectivity. Like many of my counterparts, I feel the authenticity and objectivity of your reportage and presentation have always been impeccable.
J.V. Reddy,
A regular reader for a decade or so, I do appreciate the appointment which appears to be unique in the Indian context. However, but I would like to wait to see as to what positives accrue to the readers in the long run. Congratulations or resentment can wait.
J. Dasgupta,
With the appointment of Mr. Narayanan, an insider, it would be interesting to read the nature of the readers' grievances and his replies thereof.
Ram Gurbaxani,
It should be hoped that from now on, views and opinions not in consonance with those of The Hindu will be accepted in greater measure than at present.
N.R. Sathyamurty,
