PMK accuses Jayalalithaa of adopting double standards

Special Correspondent

"People knew who was playing double game on abolition of CET"

CHENNAI: The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) has charged that it was Chief Minister Jayalalithaa who was adopting double standards on various issues, including on common entrance test, and not the PMK.

Reacting to the Chief Minister's accusation that the PMK was adopting double standards on the abolition of CET for admission to professional colleges, party leader S. Ramadoss in a statement here on Wednesday said from the beginning the party had been insisting on enacting a legislation for abolition of the CET.

Last year, the Government did not bring in the necessary legislation after making an announcement on abolition of CET. The party then suggested an ordinance to abolish the CET. The party's fears came true, as the court had struck down the Government order in the absence of necessary legislation.

This year too the party had been urging the State to bring in the legislation immediately. He said people knew well who was playing a "double game" on the issue and the party did not need any certificate from anybody.
