New Delhi: The five-member security team that visited Pakistan to assess safety measures at the cricket venues ahead of the on-going Test and ODI series has denied that it rejected Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) original schedule of having the first Test in Karachi. PCB, under criticism for holding the first Test in Lahore after inclement weather combined with a flat track produced a draw, had said earlier that its suggestion to hold the series opener at Karachi was turned down by the security team. The security team, consisting of two BCCI officials and three from the Government, had gone to Pakistan early this month to assess the measures put in place in each venues. A PCB official, speaking on condition of anonymity in Lahore, said that while one of the BCCI officials accepted to PCB proposal one of the security experts had rejected it. But a member of the security team denied PCB's statement. "Security experts have nothing to do with the scheduling. That is for the two Boards to decide. The experts' job was to assess the safety aspects at the venues and report the same to the Government,"' the member said. PTI
