NEW DELHI: Union Environment and Forests Ministry has forwarded the request for environmental clearance of the Polavaram Multi-purpose project to the National Wildlife Board of India as a huge part of the land to be acquired for the project included the national parks. Union Environment and Forests Minister A. Raja told reporters at the sixth Editor's Conference on the Social Sector Issues here on Wednesday that the Andhra Pradesh Government had also been asked to take permission from the Supreme Court as it has issued some guidelines on development activities on the national parks. The Ministry had received the proposal for environmental clearance in December 2005 and the dam is to be built in Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.
