KOLKATA : Unseeded Siddharth Allapati of India beat seventh seeded Kaan Yaylali of Turkey in the boys' singles pre-quarterfinals of ONGC-ITF junior (grade III) tennis here at the DKS Sports Complex on Wednesday. The rest of the seeded players, including the top seeded Rupesh Roy, second seeded Sumit Prakash Gupta, fourth seeded Akshay Bajoria and fifth seeded Tejesvi Rao, cruised in to the quarterfinals without encountering much difficulty. Allapati, who hails from Hyderabad, down two set-points while serving at 15-40 and trailing 1-5 in the set, produced a great comeback winning six consecutive games to win the set. It was lot easier for Allapati in the second set where he took charge right from the start. The Indian broke his opponent twice while conceding only one service game to win the set after 92 minutes.
