Veteran Congress leader dead

ALAPPUZHA: Veteran Congress leader K.R. Damodaran died at his residence in Cherthala at 6.30 a.m. on Wednesday. He was 82.

Mr. Damodaran was the former secretary of Alappuzha District Congress Committee and had also served as the member of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC).

Mr. Damodaran is considered as the political guru of Congress leaders A.K. Antony and Vayalar Ravi.

The cremation took place at the premises of his home at Cherthala on Wednesday evening.

Those who were present there included KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala, Congress leaders Vayalar Ravi and V.M. Sudheeran and Ministers K.C. Venugopal and Dominic Presentation.
