Lucknow: Medical services remained paralysed in Uttar Pradesh for the third consecutive day as the strike by junior doctors to protest the beating up of their colleagues allegedly by police recruits in Nauchandi Express train continued on Wednesday. Junior doctors in Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Allahabad, Meerut, Jhansi, Kanpur and other places boycotted work and took out marches to press for their demand for dismissal of the police personnel involved in Sunday night's clash. In Kanpur, the agitating medicos blocked traffic near Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital for some hours this morning, raising slogans against the police and the State Government. However, the blockade was lifted after persuasion by senior police officers. A delegation of the junior doctors called on Principal Secretary (Home) Alok Sinha on Wednesday and demanded stern action against the `guilty police recruits'. -- PTI
