Bank branch opened

NEW DELHI: Bank of India General Manager (Northern Zone) H.S. Bhatia on Wednesday inaugurated the 56th fully computerised branch of the bank in the I.P.Extension area at Patparganj in East Delhi.

The branch will provide "core banking solutions" along with other facilities like Internet and SMS banking, star e-payments and RTGS. Mr. Bhatia said the branch would be a boon for the residents of Patparganj and surrounding areas.

Nurses' workshop

NEW DELHI: A weeklong national workshop for nursing professionals organised by the Trained Nurses' Association of India began here on Wednesday.

The workshop, being attended by nearly 50 professionals from hospitals and institutions all over the country, seeks to review and update the knowledge of nurses in management of patients with orthopaedic emergencies and sports injuries.

St. George's School wins Intel Science Quiz

NEW DELHI: St. George's School at Alaknanda emerged as the national champions in Intel Science Quiz conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education for its 8,000 affiliated schools. The finals were held recently at Cambridge School in neighbouring Noida.

The show was conducted by well-known quiz-master Girish Balasubramanian. Rajat Grover, Abhishek Goyal and Ankur Banerjee of St. George's School emerged winners and received a cash prize of Rs. 20,000 and certificates.

Sheila launches `Culture Quest'

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday launched the "Culture Quest" project at India Habitat Centre here.

Ms. Dikshit said the project would enable students of government schools to upgrade their knowledge about the cultural heritage and lifestyle of other countries. She also called upon public schools to come forward and implement the project in the best interest of students.

Organised by Directorate of Education, the project is aimed at helping students establish better friendly relations with students of other countries through video-conferencing and website.

J.P. Aggarwal honoured

NEW DELHI: Newly elected Rajya Sabha Member J.P. Aggarwal was honoured by Delhi University's intellectuals on Tuesday upon his election to the Upper House.

The function was attended by lecturers and students of various colleges. Mr. Aggarwal gave away awards to students of M.Com and M.Phil (2004-05). He said Delhi University was among the country's top universities and being honoured on its premises was a matter of great pride for him.
