It is betrayal, says Deve Gowda
Special Correspondent
Bangalore:
The former Prime Minister, H.D. Deve Gowda, upset over the political crisis in the Janata Dal (Secular) arising out of his son and working president of the State JD (S) H.D. Kumaraswamy and his supporters withdrawing support to the coalition Government, has said "today is the saddest day in my political career spanning 54 years."
A visibly upset Mr. Gowda told The Hindu: "Even when I relinquished the office of the Prime Minister I was not at all sad. But today, the commitment with which I had all along fought has been shattered by a group of legislators of the party. It is a very sad day in my life. I feel betrayed." Members of the Gowda family had interacted with Mr. Kumaraswamy and pleaded with him not to align himself with the BJP.
