ADILABAD
: Warangal Region Inspector General of Police J.V. Ramudu on Tuesday said that television could serve as a link with the outside world for tribals in remote areas. Television had the potential of opening new avenues for tribals through awareness on a host of subjects, he opined. Mr. Ramudu was giving away direct to home (DTH) boxes and TVs donated by the Sirpur Paper Mills (SPM) Limited, Sirpur-Kagaznagar, to 15 villagers belonging to an equal number of gram panchayats in the Kagaznagar sub-division.
Reward given away
Twenty-one surrendered naxalites, including a former district committee secretary Tekam Motiram, were given additional reward money. Motiram's reward was enhanced from Rs. 2 lakhs to Rs. 3 lakhs. Karimnagar range DIG A.R. Anuradha, and others attended.
