BANGALORE: Members of the Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday staged a demonstration at the BMP head office premises to protest against the delay by the Congress in electing the chairperson of the Standing Committee on Town Planning.

The members sealed the office of the committee and put up posters condemning the delay. "Why should squabbles and dissidence in the party affect the functioning of the civic body? The members were elected two months ago but the leaders are yet to decide on the chairperson. This is unfortunate," BJP leader A.H. Basvaraju said in a statement.

The members demanded that the BMP clear the confusion regarding road upgradation and start work immediately.
