25 workers injured

NEW DELHI: At least 25 labourers were injured when an under-construction community hall caved in at Samaipur Badli in North-West Delhi on Wednesday.

According to the Fire Department, the incident occurred around 5 p.m. when the lintel of the structure collapsed on the labourers. Till late evening, 25 labourers were taken out of the debris and rushed to Jagjivan Ram Hospital. "Some of them were discharged after first-aid, whereas others have been kept under observation," said the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Virender Singh, who was at the spot to supervise the rescue operation.

More demolitions

NEW DELHI: Demolition squads of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Wednesday took action against 15 properties during its ongoing drive against unauthorised constructions as ordered by the Delhi High Court.

The drive was carried out in all the 12 civic zones except for Civil Lines and Narela. Demolition squads targeted 11 residential and four commercial properties. While one residential and two commercial constructions were razed, partial demolitions were carried out in nine residential and one commercial property. The civic body officials also sealed two properties -- one residential and commercial each -- in Shahdara-North and Central zones.

Assailants identified

NEW DELHI: The assailants allegedly involved in the murder of an outsider and causing seriously injuries to a student of Ram Lal Anand College (RLAC) within the premises of Motilal Nehru College in Delhi University's South Campus on Tuesday have been identified. Efforts are now on to arrest them.

On Tuesday, Sombir Malik, a resident of Najafgarh in South-West Delhi, and Jitender, second year student of Hindi Honours in RLAC, were attacked by a some men armed with sticks in the college premises. Both were rushed to Safdarjung Hospital where Sombir succumbed to his head injuries. Jitender too had fallen unconscious but his condition was reported to be stable.

Man held for murder

NEW DELHI: A 44-year-old man is alleged to have murdered a person at Kanjhawla in North-West Delhi on Tuesday on the suspicion of his having an illicit relationship with his wife. The accused has been arrested.

On Tuesday afternoon, the police received a call about the body of a man lying in a pool of blood in an abandoned room at Kanjhawla. The deceased was identified as Shri Kishan. Trailing the bloodstains, the police reached the residence of Hari Singh and summoned him for questioning.

During interrogation, Hari allegedly confessed to having murdered Shri Kishan.

Criminals nabbed

NEW DELHI: Five alleged criminals were arrested following an encounter with the North-West Delhi police at Sultanpuri on Tuesday. A revolver and two country-made firearms were recovered from their possession.

The accused were identified as Neeraj, Pramod, Deepak, Vijay and Arun Kumar.

Two arrested

NEW DELHI: Two persons who were allegedly involved in a robbery-cum-attempt to murder case at Naraina in South-West Delhi on December 29 last have been arrested by the South-West Delhi police.

According to the police, the accused, Pawan Kumar and Anil Singh, were arrested at their hideout in Haryana.
