ACP served compulsory retirement

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: An Assistant Commissioner of Police posted with the Delhi Armed Police (DAP), whose "wife" was recently arrested by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch for her alleged involvement in cheating cases, has been served notice for compulsory retirement by the Union Home Ministry.

It is learnt that the police on Wednesday received a letter from the Home Ministry with the direction that ACP Manoharlal Kararwal be served compulsory retirement notice keeping in view his involvement in unscrupulous activities.

A decision in this regard was taken on the basis of the evidence submitted by the Delhi police to the Home Ministry proving that Kararwal and his second "wife" were involved in several cases of cheating registered in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. In certain cases, the police found that he had even threatened people.

The second point on the basis of which Kararwal's case was considered for compulsory retirement was that as a civil servant he had got married a second time without getting a "clear" divorce from his first wife. It is alleged that he abandoned his first wife and children several years ago to live with Rewa Chaudhary, who was arrested this past week by the EOW. Along with her, he had allegedly cheated a number of people on different pretexts. Rewa was also involved in cases in which she duped people of lakhs of rupees on false promises of providing them visas of different countries.
