New Delhi
It is a bright red car that will certainly be the only one in the Capital. Putting a whole new spin on winning raffle tickets, the Heritage Motor Club of India gave away a vintage Hillmam Minx 1950 at the Auto Expo that came to an end in the Capital on Tuesday. Standing out among the crowd of cars, Hillman Minx was the choice of wheels for most Bollywood heroes in the 1950s and early 1960s on reel. With an orange bow tied to it, the car was donated by Diljeet Titus, proprietor of the law firm Titus and Company. Manufactured by Hillman Motor Company established in 1907, the cars were made in Britain. A sturdy reputation of being a dependable family car, Hillman Minx will go a long way in spreading the good word about vintage cars. While the amount collected by the Heritage Motor Club of India was Rs. 50,000 in the raffle, the value of the car for lovers of a vintage set of wheels is much more than that. On a mission to keep alive the passion of old automobiles, the Heritage Motor Club of India is dedicated to finding and restoring vintage cars. Apart from being concerned about the cause of transport, the Heritage Motor Club of India has been involved with drives to protect the environment. It also organised a heritage drive to Sariska last year to draw attention to the decreasing tiger population. Diljeet Titus has also established a vintage car museum -- Pro Bono Publico -- at Mehrauli in Delhi to draw attention to the cause. Mandira Nayar
